Brief Description: Waxed paper negative of the tomb or monument of Francis Shortt (1754-1839), and members of his family; from the front, showing inscription. Dark black and white, waxy back. Companion of 11856, and of two negatives dated 1870 (11853 and 11927), and an albumen print (11855) which shows the monument before replacement of the lower panel by one commemorating the photographer A. Y. Shortt's wife Flora Lucy (who died in 1875 aged 32) and his father John Macourtie Shortt (1803-1866). The installation of this panel in or soon after 1875 was thus the occasion for the taking of the two paper negatives.
