English QUADRANT (Gunter type)

Ivory and brass; on wooden stand. Signed, "I: Rowley. fecit:."; undated.

On the front is a quadrant sundial of the Gunter type. The original plumb-bob is still in the hole into which it is plugged when not in use (on the edge of the instrument between the sights).

The back is blank.

The quadrant is fixed to a wooden post and may be tilted as necessary. The post is fixed to, and can swivel on, a base which is fitted with three levelling screws.
