English 1-draw PERSPECTIVE GLASS
c.1725

Pasteboard, covered with green gold-tooled vellum; ivory lens mounts and caps. Unsigned and undated.

This perspective glass, or small telescope, has a concave eye-lens, as used in the telescope invented by Galileo in 1609, and now used in opera-glasses.

The ornamental designs tooled in gold on the vellum are of a type frequently met with on Culpeper type microscopes.
