GLASS BOTTLES USED AS SEPARATING FUNNELS

A small hole was drilled near the bottom of the bottle, which could be closed by a screw-operated pad. With the bottle inverted and the air-hole open, fluid could be run out through a glass tap or rubber tube closed with a clamp. Sometimes a spring-loaded closure operated as shown was used.
