Reflex Camera Obscura with Improved Lenses

Specially designed for indoor use, this camera obscura has a third large aperture rectangular lens to increase the illumination of the image at the corners and edges of the ground glass screen, working the same way as a Fresnel lens produces a bright viewfinder image in a modern reflex camera. On the other hand, the large aperture lens only allows for a small depth of field, hence rackwork was added to facilitate focusing. The image is screened by a metal folding eye shade.
