Inscriptions by Hans Tucher

Its oval shape and suspension chain make this an unusual dial by Hans Tucher. There is also a larger than usual number of inscriptions, including 'DER SPƖDTER SOL NICHTS VER ACHTEN DEN ER KANS BESSER MACHTEN' ('the critic should despise nothing unless he can make it better') and the more practical 'COMPASSV PROPE FERRVM NON RECTE ASSIGNARE POTEST' ('the compass cannot point correctly next to iron').
