Unsigned compass and dial by the same maker

Evans bought the compass [1] in London in 1906; dated 1562, but unsigned, a latitude table on the underside indicates that it is part of a sundial. In 1920 the same dealer sold him a dial [2], unsigned and undated, which he recognised as being from the same hand and so dating from c. 1560-70.
