FOWLER'S CIRCULAR CALCULATOR
c.1925

Chromium-plated brass, glass cover, printed paper scales, with moving cursor on transparent (celluloid?) disc below the cover. Original leather case and booklet. The instrument is inscribed "FOWLER's PATENT LONG SCALE CALCULATOR" and "Magnum", with "FOWLER & Co MANCHESTER" and the number 229 stamped on the back. The instrument resembles the other circular logarithmic calculators shown here, but is much more accurate, having a scale length of about 50 inches, in contrast to the 10 inches of a normal slide rule. The main key moves the scales, and the smaller key the moving cursor, as on the earlier Boucher calculator also shown here.
