Contact image of heather (Erica mutabilis), dated March 1839, made on stiff paper and fixed with salt;

two contact images of fern, the smaller fixed with salt, the other perhaps with potassium bromide;

test piece in four segments, inscribed on the back '4 States of Bromide of Silver';

photomicrograph of lace taken with the solar microscope, probably September 1839, when Herschel wrote to Talbot thanking him for some 'very pretty specimens of Magnified Lace'.
