Early triplet lens consisting of three achromatic lenses: a smaller central component near the stop, and larger front and rear components. This f10 lens of 250 focal length has a slit between the lenses for Waterhouse stops. This lens type did not survive the 1860s but was superseded by the rapid rectilinear lens.
