This blackboard is on display in the exhibition Bye bye blackboard from 12th to 17th July 2005. The opportunity to have a blackboard included in the exhibition was offered for sale in the Oxford Promise auction held on 17 June to raise money for charities working with homeless people in Oxford. The successful bidder was Myfanwy Lloyd.

Lesson One
Sleep, Baby, sleep.
Your father tends the sheep,
Your mother shakes the little tree,
Down from it falls a little dream.
Sleep, Baby, sleep.
I learnt this rhyme from my mother and I sing it every night to my baby son Isaac. As well as a soothing lullaby it is a plea to let me rest. After eight months I am still amazed that we spend so much time and energy teaching the most basic, universal, and apparently natural, physical activity: to sleep.
