Billmeir acquired it with the collection
of Henri Michel, of Brussels, which he purchased about 1950.
An engineer and craftsman as well as a collector, Michel made
replicas of several very rare instruments for his collection.
In this case, no original example is known, so part of his
purpose was to try out the invention.
