Provenance

The 'Oxford Astrolabe' was manufactured in London by W. Watson & Sons on behalf of the Oxford professor of engineering science C. F. Jenkin, who designed it. It was inspired by the Museum's collection of astrolabes, and issued soon after the Museum's opening in 1925. It was sold in the Museum together with an instruction booklet written by Jenkin.
