Provenance

Billmeir acquired it with the collection of Henri Michel, of Brussels, which he purchased about 1950. An original inscription records that the astrolabe was a waqi (gift for religious purposes) given as a bequest to the minaret of the Mulla Idrīs (that is, to a mosque) at Fez, Morocco.
