Mater
The mater and limb are of two pieces, riveted construction. Scales on the limb: equal hours scale; degree scale; shadow square scale; shadow square scale.The limb is inscribed: with a maker's signature marked as Regnerus Arsenius Nepos Gemmæ Frisÿ fecit Louanÿ anno 1565 (Made at Louvain in 1565 by Regnerus Arsenius, nephew of Gemma Frisius). This signature is located on the limb, just below the throne. with a direction marked as MERIDIES (South). This inscription is located directly below the throne. with a direction marked as OCCIDENS (West). This inscription is located at the 3 o'clock position. with a direction marked as SEPTENTRIO (North).
