One-day Meeting at the Maison Francaise

THE Museum has joined with the Maison Française in Oxford, All Souls College, and the Faculty of Modern History in organizing a one- day meeting on Saturday, 13th February, 1999. The meeting will be held at the Maison Française in Norham Road under the general title ‘Koyré et au-delà’.


Alain Segonds and Nicholas Jardine will speak on Kepler, Stephen Gaukroger on Descartes, Tabitta van Nouhuys on science in the Netherlands in the seventeenth century, and Michel Blay and Scott Mandelbrote on Newton. To conclude the day Robert Fox and Dominique Pestre will lead a table ronde on French and Anglo-Saxon historiography of science.

The programme commences at 9 a.m. and continues until 5.30 p.m. All are welcome and those wishing to attend should send their names and addresses for registration to the Secretary, at the Museum’s address given opposite, by 1st February, 1999. Lunch, coffee, and tea, at a charge of £12, may be booked at the same time by enclosing a cheque made out to ‘University of Oxford’.
